HOUSTON, TEXAS – They say that smiling is contagious, and Dr. Jiro Akpobome of J Smiles Dental Implant Studio probably spreads more than anyone else. Dr. Jiro began his career in dentistry and quickly developed a passion in oral surgery. After graduating from Baylor College of Dentistry with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, he advanced his clinical skills with a hybrid Advanced Education in General Dentistry/General Practice Residency at the University of New Mexico Hospital. He trained extensively in emergency dental and medical procedures, and it was here that his interest in implant dentistry sparked.

In 2024, Dr. Jiro attended Smile Systems' 3 on 6™ Full Arch Rehabilitation course in Salt Lake City, UT. This course helps clinicians develop the bone and tissue saving techniques that are necessary for offering 3 on 6 treatment. In addition, the course teaches how using implant bridges to completely restore a patient’s dentition can be predictable and have better long-term outcomes for patients. After completing the course, Dr. Jiro became certified as an authorized 3 on 6™ Provider.

“I am thrilled to offer patients a revolutionary solution that prioritizes minimally invasive techniques, predictability, and long-lasting results,” he said. “With this innovative approach, patients can expect a transformative experience that not only addresses their dental needs but also enhances their overall quality of life.”

The 3 on 6™ procedure was developed by Dr. Randy Roberts of Smile Clinic in 2013 as a permanent, implant supported solution for full arch teeth replacement. The procedure utilizes six implants and three zirconia bridges to permanently restore a patient’s teeth. Dr. Roberts developed the procedure as a method of preserving the patient's healthy bone and creating a more hygienic and esthetic smile. Modern dental technologies combined with the newest surgical and restorative techniques enable clinicians to offer this groundbreaking treatment with an extremely high success rate.

Dr. Jiro believes that patients will be thrilled at the benefits of this revolutionary treatment option compared to the antiquated options of the last thirty years.

“3 on 6 offers easier maintenance and cleaning, which is essential for long-term oral health. Undergoing a less invasive procedure involved in 3 on 6 means better preservation of bone, promoting overall oral health and stability. Overall, the 3 on 6 treatment represents a superior choice for patients seeking a durable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing dental solution.”

When compared to other popular treatment options the 3 on 6™ stands out because of its ability to preserve the patient's bone. Other options like the All-on-4 often require significant bone removal to create space for the bulky prosthetic. While this may be an acceptable option for some patients, the 3 on 6 has no denture, instead utilizing the patient’s natural gums. The 3 on 6™ can also be cleaned at home by the patient with standard brushing and flossing while the All-on-4 should be removed yearly for expensive cleanings and replacing of hardware.

Dr. Jiro and J Smiles Dental Implant Studio proudly serve the areas of Houston, Montrose, Bellaire, Galena Park, Pasadena, and the greater Houston Texas metro area.
